Lions and tigers and...pelicans? Oh my!
Did you know that a giraffe's tongue can be up to 50cm long? Of course you didn't!
I learnt this as well as many other useful facts while visiting Tama Zoo yesterday. Located just outside metropolitan Tokyo, I was expecting it to be a fairly small place with perhaps a handful of unhappy looking monkeys pacing up and down concrete cells. So imagine my surprise when I discovered the zoo was large and well kept, with a large variety of animals from all over the world. Who would have thought, eh?
You can see some of my new friends in a gallery, somewhat boldly entitled Nature. Over time, I'm also hoping to add photos from any future expedition to the wilds of Borneo or Kenyan safari.
Love those pink flamingos!
