Japan in HDR
One of my favourite Japan blogs, The Pink Tentacle, has posted some interesting HDR photos from the Japan HDR group over at flickr. For those of you unfamiliar with how HDR works, the acronym stands for High Dynamic Range and is a technique whereby a number of photos with different exposures are combined together to create a single photograph.
The resulting image is often stunning - something between a photograph and a painting. Of the shots featured on The Pink Tentacle, I particularly like this one by stu72 (click on the link to see the photo on flickr).
And while you're visiting The Pink Tentacle, check out the story on Kimiko Yoshida. I really like this series of self portraits, which in their irony and self-consciousness remind me of Cindy Sherman's movie stills.
