Heroes of Photography
In this month's American Photo there's an article on the work of 10 great photographers. Heroes of Photography (an appropriate moniker, for the most part) highlights work by photographers who are "...committed to causes large and small, public and personal, and hoping to make a difference."
If you are anything like me, you are probably pretty skeptical when it comes to lists of this sort. 'Top 10' articles are usually just an excuse for lazy journalism (picture a bunch of guys sitting around a meeting room drinking coffee and either pulling names out of a hat or nominating friends of theirs). Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll agree after checking out the photogallery that the 10 photographers here are seriously talented.
A quick word of warning: many of the images in this slideshow are graphic.
