(Yet more) shameless self-publicity

You know you want it!! Episode 4 of Don't drink the water is now available. Yes, this one took a while to get done. Don't you hate it when real life gets in the way of things like having fun?
The latest show looks at recent changes to airport security. There's also some news about Flickr's new geotags feature, and the latest about those flaming laptops. Check it out!

iTunes, all is forgiven

Lately I've been feeling a little frustrated by the way in which iTunes organizes podcasts, featuring some and burying others. And then there's that weird glitch I've been having with sound quality ever since updating to version 7.0.0.70. But as of today, all is forgiven...

Don't drink the water was featured in 'New and Notable' section of Society and Culture!

Here's hoping that having the show featured will translate into listeners. Incidentally, if anyone out there would be willing to write an iTunes review, it would be much appreciated! ;-)

Flickr+Digg=JPG Magazine

JPG Magazine bills itself as a publication where readers and photographers create and vote for the content via the web. It works like this: first you upload your photos to the site. Next, JPG Mag visitors pick out their favorite photos and the editors select those to be used in the magazine. If your photo is selected for publication, you receive $100 dollars and a year's free subscription to the magazine.
The site claims that "Voting is about the quality of the photo as well as how well it fits the theme. Getting lots of votes doesn't guarantee publication, but it helps!" It remains how well this works, especially considering that sites like Digg have been having problems preventing friends from pushing each other's stories to the top.
Oh, and photos can't have watermarks, frames and other Photoshop additions. I'm going to have to go through my back catalogue and redo the images if I want to submit to the mag...

More Zuiikin English!

The first Zuiikin English post proved so popular, I tracked down some more. Is it me, or does the host seem strangely familiar?

Martin Liebscher

Flipping through a photography magazine recently, I stumbled across a couple of panoramas by the German photographer Martin Liebscher. Hilarious! Look closely and you will see dozens of stories playing out in the photos.

I'm still trying to figure out how he composes and then processes these, especially the epic 'Philharmonie' and 'Suntory Hall' photographs.

Canadian pilot locked out of cockpit

For roughly 10 minutes, passengers described seeing the pilot bang on the door and communicating with the cockpit through an internal telephone, but being unable to open the cabin door.

Can you imagine being a passenger and watching them take the door off its hinges?
